In the area of portrait photography, my journey as an artist has been an endless exploration of stories hidden within everyone. I find the allure of using a camera to narrate these stories within each subject as a guide to my artistic journey. As my passion for portraiture has evolved, I have developed a desire to explore the commercial facet of this art form. Drawing from nuanced elements of my military background, I have begun to dive deeper into tattoo culture. This has spawned inspiration for this body of work which centers on the relationships between tattoo artists, their creations, and the individuals who display these lifetime works of art.

The essence of this project goes beyond documentation where it calls the audience to engage themselves with these works of art and the culture that encompasses them. With my lens as a conduit, I aim to break down traditional stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding this form or artistry. In doing so, I intend to create a connection between the audience and subjects that enables them to look past preconceived notions and stigmas.

These images have been an evolving narrative of distinct tattoo artists where each photograph is the sum of choreographed light, composition, and perspective that contributes to this visual display. I invite you as the viewer to look beyond the surface and seek the inner spirit of tattoo artistry. Where portraits have always served as a conduit between viewer and subject, my medium is a display of unique styles and endless creativity.
